Moving into a new house is a thrilling experience, especially if you are a first-time homeowner. Change the locks and access codes

If you've relocated to a different province, you'll also need to update your address with the Department of Motor Vehicles. Notify your insurance provider of your move as well, since this may influence your premium rate.
Keep your warranties and manuals in a safe place
When moving into a new home, most homeowners tend to purchase new appliances. Make it a habit to save all of your receipts and warranty evidence in a secure and well-organized folder. Because ink fades off receipts, it's a good idea to scan and upload your documents to your Google Drive or Cloud. You'll always have access to them this way, even if you misplace your file.
Furthermore, if and when you want to sell your home, you may pass on any new and existing warranty information and manuals to the new homeowners.
Pro Tip: Before doing any big renovations, such as adding on or tearing down walls, live in your house for 12 to 18 months. What you think you desire at first may alter after you've lived there for a while.
